Ken Mitchell – Flying Instructor

Ken started flying in 1990 and gained his Commercial Pilot’s Licence in 1992. Alongside his career in the IT industry, his first job in aviation was flying across Scotland, on photo survey flights. He has flown many different types of light aircraft over the years since gaining his licence.

A career move to Warwickshire in 2001 provided the opportunity to achieve his Flight Instructor rating and begin instructing part-time. After experiencing the local scenery from the air, he then set up his own pleasure flight company, which operated successfully for several years from Wellesbourne.

Ken became a member at South Warwickshire Flying School while flying from Wellesbourne. Having enjoyed the club atmosphere, he now joins the staff this year as an instructor at weekends.

Ken lives with his wife Julia, 4 miles south of Honiley, where they enjoy an excellent view of the aircraft on approach to Birmingham airport.
