Rodney Galiffe is the Managing Director of the South Warwickshire School of Flying, a limited company, that owns and operates the School. He assumed his appointment as Principal in the summer of 1989. His prime aim was to develop the School into one of the world's finest flying training organisation offering unequalled customer care and fine service. |
Rodney is the scion of an ancient family. Born in Bangalore, India, the family had been settled in that city as it was the closest to their estate near Mysore. His aviation career commenced in 1974 with a flight in a HAL Pushpuk over Madras. On leaving School in 1977, Rodney entered the British Army and served in the Corps of the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers. His departure brought to an end two hundred years of loyal family service in the Army. |

He first gained a Private Pilot Licence at King Air Flying Club, Biggin Hill, where he added the night, IMC and multi-engine rating to his licence. On re-entering civilian life in 1986, he qualified as a Commercial Pilot with an Instrument rating on single and multi-engine aeroplanes in Chicago. He was appointed a CAA Ground and Ratings Examiner in 1991. He is married to Kim and his children are Charlotte and Barnaby. |
